I'm Rounding the Corner.......365, Day #31

I can't believe we're at the end of our first month with 365 Cards!! If you haven't checked out the site yet, you are REALLY missing out on a good thing! My card box is filling up fast. THIRTY ONE cards done this month!!! Whew! Anyway, today's challenge is to make a card with only rounded edges. I used a .cut file that I downloaded from Capadia Designs. I cut the design in half after cutting it and viola! (I saw this on the Capadia site and loved hers!). This size is perfect for a 6X6 envie. The SG and Sweet Girl was cut from Graphically Speaking (Cricut). I also added the little pearls in all of the scallops. This is not my favorite card, but my mojo is not on target tonight. It's been a long work day! So, thanks for stopping by! (Can't wait for tomorrow and the beginning of another month of card designs!).

Another TOOT TOOT!!

OMG! I am in the top 5 at Card Patterns!! This was for sketch #7 and I'm so excited!! I love the Penny Black stamp that I used and it was too fun making this card. So, thanks CP! You made my day.
You can click on the title above and go check out the other top 5 and the winner. Thanks for stopping by!

365 - Don't Bug Me! and Kazan #23

Two challenges today. Since I'm home from work today, I can participate early. Our challenge on 365 cards today is to use a ladybug on our card. Well, I used more than one! This is also my take on Kazan's Sketch #23. The ladybugs were cut with WIMG and the tree from Tinkerbell & Friends, both cartridges from Provocraft. Then the grass was cut from Plantin Schoolbook and the sentiment from Beyond Birthdays. WOW - lot's of cricut on this one!! The Miss You is mounted on some black ribbon. So, thanks for stopping by today!

Here is Kazan's 'ausome' sketch #23:

Super Sketchy Sunday, Day #29

Today is Super Sketchy Sunday at 365 Cards. I wasn't in a "pretty" mood today, so I did something a little bolder and brighter. All of the cuts were from my Cricut (Graphically Speaking & Mini Monograms). Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Here is the sketch:

Card Patterns, Sketch #8 and TPE Challenge #8

So, I looked and looked at this sketch and wondered what I would do. Then, I saw a great tutorial on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog, done by the very talented Kirsty Brown. She made the cuttest little bunny using punches. Well, I didn't have all of those punches, so I used my trusty Cricut. I made a .cut file of the bunny, cut it out, ran each piece thru the Cuttlebug Swirls and Swiss dots folders and then pieced it all together. So, this is what I came up with for this week's sketch. I turned the sketch on it's side and added my take on it. The pp is by Making Memories. Be sure to stop in at the Cuttlebug Challenge blog to see Kirsty's tutorial. Also, The Pink Elephant challenge this week is Easter. So, hey - this card works for both! Don't you just love when that happens? Check out The Pink Elephant's DT cards this week. Pure eye candy!!Thanks for stopping by AND for taking the time to comment.

Here is the sketch (remember, I turned it sideways for my card):

And here is my card:

"TOOT TOOT"!!

Thank you to the DT at 365 Cards as they picked my card as Card of The Week for my "Ad Inspired" card. (it was posted on Wednesday). Several of you left me such nice comments on that card and I really appreciate it. I appreciate all of you taking the time to stop by and leave me comments on any project I do. It really makes a girl feel good for her friends and family (and all of her new online friends) to post a little note. Anyway, today is Super Sketchy Sunday, so I'm off to work on my next card. Thanks again 365 - you made my day!!

2 Challenges...

I missed yesterday's 365 Cards challenge, so I'm playing catchup today. Yesterday's challenge was "Touchy Feely Friday". We were asked to use 3 kinds of texture on our cards. I've used some crimped craft paper for my background (1); I ran some metal thru my Cuttlebug for a textured plate (2); and I've added twine and some buttons (3,4). So, I got it done with one extra texture. (oh - I also sanded the crimped paper to add a little more texture). I love cards and LO's with texture, so I really liked this challenge. I think this would make a good "male" card.
I'm also using this for Recipe #41 at Sketches by Tamara. I think it fits the 3 items of this recipe: (1) a male card, (2) metal (3) Grungy!

Next up is today's challenge at 365 Cards - "Scraplift Yourself". We were asked to create a card based on a scrapbook layout that we've done. Well, I've been working on a book for a friend so I've used an LO from that book for this challenge. The little girl is Morgan and she is too cute! I've used a couple of pp's on my card and some chipboard letters. I sanded the letters to add a little texture. I think it's a good match to the LO. What do you think? Here is the layout:

Color Me Anything but THAT!!

At 365 cards today we were asked to make a card using a color that we don't use very often. Well, yellow is my color. I'm not sure why. I love bananas, the sun, corn, but I don't like scrapping with yellow. Well, I did it. I used a vellum sentiment and held it down with a chipboard piece from Basic Grey. I added a couple of little pearls to hold down the other end. Maybe muting the yellow with the vellum helped how I looked at it. I kept this card simple because of the sentiment. So, maybe yellow isn't so bad after all. This is why I love 365 Cards. They really challenge you every day to something new and different. Thanks for stopping by and click on my title and go check out 365 Cards today!

Day 25! "Ad Inspired"

I can't believe it's been 25 days already at 365 cards!! Well, today was another FAB challenge. We were to make a card based on this ad:

Well, I immediately new the perfect papers for this one.....KI Memories. So, I layered two patterned papers and then cut the flowers out of the KI Memories paper. Love that paper!! I added a little sentiment (by Basic Grey) and there you have it! Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Setting the Scene

Day 24 at 365 Cards is "Setting the Scene" and we were asked to do a card with a nature scene. Well, this is my take on it. The tree and the squirrel were cut from Happily Ever After and the flowers from Walk in My Garden (cricut carts). I added some stickles to the flowers. The green pp is MME, Wild Asparagus. I've got Day #25 card to do, so I'm keeping this one short. Thanks for stopping by! (Click on the title and go check out Krista (guest designer) and Tammy's (365 Design Team) cards!

Laura's Sketch #22

At 2S4U this week, it is Laura's turn and her sketch #22 is Fabalicious! My card base looks black in the pic, but it's actually navy blue. The pp and the little apple are from October Afternoon. (love it, love it, wish I had more of it!!). I did some stitching on this card, but am I ever going to get it straight?! However, I think that sometimes it doesn't look that bad if it's messy. Kinda adds to the card, don't ya think? Be sure to go over and see Laura's card this week and all of the DT cards............PURE EYE CANDY!!! (Just click on the title above). Thanks for stopping by!

Crossword Connection

Our challenge on 365 Cards today is "Crossword Connection". We were to print the "crossword" image and then use it on a card. I made mine simple, but I think the colors are effective. The heart and dove were cut using Cricut's Beyond Birthdays. I added that black and white cording, which I absolutely LOVE! Added a little bling and done. Thanks for stopping by!

Super Sketch Sunday, Day #22

It's day 22 at 365 Cards and we were given a great sketch today by Pam. Here's my take on it. Not sure why I did a baby card, except that I don't think I've EVER done one! I loved these soft colored papers by Martha Stewart. (They were on sale at Michael's!). The little feet and the sentiment were cut from Cricut's New Arrival cartridge. I added some embossing on the lettering with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. Then, I added some stitching. Still not "great" at this, but I'm gonna keep tryin'! You really should go check out 365 Cards and see what the DT and the other ladies are doing. It's fantabulous!! So, thanks for stopping by AND thanks for all the nice comments on my great news. Back later.....

Sing Along Saturday & CP Sketch #7

Got one card done today for 2 challenges. Don't you love when that happens? Today at 365 Cards it's Sing Along Saturday. The challenge was to make a card based on the song "Lean on Me". And....at Card Patterns we're working on Sketch #7. I love this little Penny Black stamp so it's the first thing I thought of for the 365 Card challenge. I colored it, believe it or not, with ultra fine tip Sharpie's! The pp is from The Paper Studio and chipboard is from Basic Grey. The little letters are from Making Memories. The bow and the tie on the button is a shoe string that I found around the house. (Don't ever throw ANYTHING away!). Oh, almost forgot, just below the bow at the top is a heart that I punched out of plastic with a MS heart punch. The plastic was part of the wrapper from a new Cricut cartridge. Well, I think that's it. Thanks for stopping by! (oh, and be sure to read my previous post for my great news!!)

I MADE THE DESIGN TEAM!!!

Well, I am so excited to let you all know that I am now on the Design Team at Christmas Cards All Year Round! Deanne and Tamara are so talented and they have a great group of people that participate over there. I'm so looking forward to working with them and the DT members on some great challenges. I remember last Christmas (and several past ones too!) when I was in a whirlwind trying to get Christmas cards completed for family and friends. It seems that with Christmas shopping, parties and family get togethers, there wasn't much time to make my cards. Well, at Christmas Cards All Year Round, you make 5 cards each month (or more if you'd like) and by December, you've got 55 (or more) cards made. What could be easier than that?! Also, if you get your 5 cards done each month, based on the challenges, you could win the monthly prize. Now I ask you, who needs to have 55 cards done for Christmas and not have to do them all at once? All of us! Also, Deanne and Tamara offer us up some great tutorials and other goodies during the month, so it's just a fun place to be. So, grab your friends and all your crafting buddies and head on over to Christmas Cards All Year Round. You'll enjoy the challenges and tutorials and get all your Christmas cards done EARLY this year!! Click on the header for this post or check out the link on the right of my blog and come join us. Thanks for stopping by!

365 X2

I've got two 365 Cards today. I missed yesterday as I was having Cricut trouble. Turns out it was the cartridge and not my precious Expression. I'm so thankful!! So, yesterday's challenge at 365 was "Keep it to Yourself". We were to convey the birthday message in pictures and no sentiment on the front of the card. So, I used my Celebrations cartridge for the cut, my Fiskars border punch, a little ribbon, some rikrak and a few buttons.

Today's 365 challenge is "Inside Out". We were to keep the outside of the card simple and decorate the inside. It's like opening a present with the surprise on the inside. So, I went back to the Cricut and used the Animal Kingdom cartridge for my little fish and the grass. I ran two of the fish thru the Cuttlebug and added their little eyes. Not sure why I'm using so much orange these days, but I love this color!! (Could it be it's one of the colors of my Auburn Tigers??). The sentiment is also cut from Animal Kingdom. Thanks for stopping by today!

Buttons & Bows

It's buttons and bows at 365 Cards today. We are to use 3 bottons and 3 bows. I needed to do a birthday card for a friend who LOVES frogs. So, this is my take on today's challenge. The image is from Pink Petticoat. The scalloped circle was cut with the Cricut using the Mini Monograms cartridge. I'm not sure if the picture does this image justice. It has quite a bit of stickles on it and it really does shine. Thanks for stopping by today!

Challenges, Challenges.....

First off is Kazan's sketch #22 and 365 Cards "Imagine This" challenges. I used some Paper Studio pp, a Colorbok journaling card, flowers, ribbon and a gem clip from my stash. I added the leaves at the top just to add a little green.

Next is 365 Cards "Sketch Sunday". This was yesterday's challenge, but little Maggie was here and I didn't get a chance to create yesterday. I used the same pp that I cut my flowers from for Saturday's challenge. (hey - waste not, want not, right?). I added a little bling and a glittered chipboard letter. Well, it's getting late and I have to work tomorrow, so thanks for stopping by! (by the way, I really do appreciate all of your nice comments that you leave me. It really makes a girl feel good!).

365 DIY

Today's challenge at 365Cards is DIY. Make your own flowers. So, I cut some flowers out of some beautiful pp from Paper Studio. I added some stems and a "wish" and done! I wanted to make this one simple so that pretty pp would stand out. So....I left the background white. I can't believe I kept up on 365 this week. Sometimes it's a struggle, but it's well worth it in the end. Well, thanks for stopping by! Going to play with Maggie now cause she leaves tomorrow :(

365 - Red, Blue & Yellow

So, Friday's challenge is a Red, Blue & Yellow Birthday card. These colors just screamed little boy to me, so I tried my hand at it. It's very simple, but looks pretty boyish to me. I used Cricut's New Arrival cart for the truck and Plantin Schoolbook for the "fire". Added a little bling and some "falling" boxes. TFL!

CPS#106 Sketch

I haven't participated over at CPS for a while and since I'm home today, I thought I would join in the fun over there. The sketch is #106 and I loved it! I needed to make a BD card for a friend, so I used this cool sketch. The pp is My Mind's Eye. I seem to be using alot of that lately. I cut the swirls with my Cricut cartridge - Wedding Solutions. I added some lace on the edge, some ribbon, the little green chipboard, a button and some twine and there you have it! Thanks for stopping by!

Bama Happy Birthday

This is a BD card I've done for a friend to give to her husband. He is a huge Alabama football fan, so I've included some houndstooth paper on the card. He's also a golfer, so I added a clip art piece with a little chalked shading. The cardstock was some stash and I think it came together pretty well. The letters were cut from Cricut's cartridge, Alphalicious, at short stack and short stack shadow. Added a clip and a little bling and done! TFL!

Thursday's Theme

Thursday's Theme today at 365 cards is "the big move". We are to create a card for someone that is moving. So, I pulled out one of these cute little images from Pink Petticoat and made a bright, cheery little card. Nothing special, just a simple little card today. TFL!

Giving it All You've Got! and 2S4U #21

Today's challenge on 365 Cards is to use 5 patterned papers and 5 embellishments on one card. So, I felt like I needed to do sort of a collage card. I've used 5 papers by different mfg's, but at least 2 are My Mind's Eye. I added some inking, sewing, some little charms, a little clip, a puzzle piece, a cute little butterfly, a bookmark and a tiny flower. That's a few more than 5, but hey.....it's a collage, right? The puzzle piece was "raw" and I added some alcohol inks to it and a stamp. Oh, almost forgot my pretty little lace at the bottom! I LOVE LACE! So, I'm also using this card for this weeks challenge at 2S4U and Laura's sketch #21. There are some FAB cards this week both at 365 AND 2S4U, so be sure to go over and check them out. Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow.....

P.S. I've added a couple more pics today so you can see the close up of some of the cute little embellies.

Snow Pic card

Our challenge at 365 Cards today is to use a photo on a card. Well, since we NEVER get snow in Alabama, I HAD to use a pic of our March 1st snow this year! This was taken in my back yard and is one of our Alabama pine trees. I used some red card stock, the photo and some green Merry Christmas ribbon from HL. Then, I cut the snowflakes from my cricut cartridge, Christmas Cheer. I added some Martha Stewart glitter to the snowflakes using her glue writing pen. If you don't have one of these, GET ONE! I love this pen! It's so easy to use on small embellies. The sentiment is a Basic Grey rub-on. Love those too! So, thanks for stopping by and I'll be back tomorrow!

Scrap it up!

So, at 365 Cards today we are to use scraps from 3 types of paper. So, I decided what better way to use my scraps than to create a mosaic. This is the first time I've done this and I learned some lessons the hard way!

1. Put the adhesive on the card base first. Not each little piece of paper.

2. Start in the center, not on the outside. It's easier to cut off the outer edge than to cut

the pieces in the center!

3. Take your time.

So, this is my take on the scrap challenge. The card base is actually a scrap piece that my hubby brought home from work. So, I've even included HIS scraps in this one! Thanks for stopping by!

I DID IT!

I have officially caught up now on my 365 Cards challenges for this week. Whew! I can't get behind again for sure! So, today's challenge is a sketch by the very talented, creative and just super fun Kazan (fro 2S4U!). I needed to make a male birthday card, so I used this sketch. The sentiment is cut from Cricut's Alphalicious cartridge. I use that cartridge so much! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week! (oh yeah, be sure to page down on my blog and see the other cards I made today!). TFL!

Shape Up!

Saturday's challenge at 365 was Shape Up! This week's shape is a circle. So, I cut a circle with the cut out's in it with my Cricut and the Mini Monograms cartridge. Then, I used up some ribbon scraps all around to fill in the cut out's. Then I added the little caterpillar from Cricut's Walk In My Garden cartridge. Well, on to today's challenge with 365. Stay tuned....

TFL!

BLING!

Well, I'm playing catch up today. I missed Friday and Saturday of 365 Cards, so I'm working feverishly to catch up. Friday's challenge was to use bling on a card. So, this is my take. My bling is in the center of my flowers. I just love the beach and so I thought I would use some summer colors on this one. The sentiment is another one that I purchased at Pink Petticoat. I just love this little fish! The flowers were part of a patterned paper by the Paper Studio. I just cut them out and "stair stepped" adhered them with some pop dots. Well, I'm off to work on Saturday's card. TFL!

365 cards, Day #5

I'm back! It's a new day and day #5 at 365 Cards. Today we were asked to make a "quickie" Thank You card. Well, this card was made as quick as lightning! The pp is BoBunny - Homespun collection. The image is from Pink Petticoat (love those images!). So, I printed the image, cut it with my cricut and the mini monograms cartridge, scalloped circle in white and then in orange and then added a little color and some glitter. I attached it to my pp with some pop dots and adhered the pp to my card base. Then I added a ribbon and done! (It actually took me longer to tie the ribbon than anything! We need a tutorial at 365 on ribbon tying!). Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by 365 Cards and get some cards made!

365 Cards, Day #4

Today (yes today! - I'm on time for this one!), our challenge was to make a card based on an advertisement. Well, I've been walking by this magazine in my kitchen for a week and everytime I see it I think what a cool color combination. Sooooo, I used it for this challenge. My card is not my favorite, but it's late, I'm tired and I did the best I could :) The U that I used was white and I wanted yellow (like the little circle on the magazine), so I colored it with a sharpie. It worked! Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back tomorrow for Day 5! And....if you haven't checked out what's going on at 365 cards, you really should. Great challenges (and prizes to come later)!

365 Cards - Trio Tuesday (Day #3)

Today (or yesterday, really) our challenge is a trio.....button, flower, ribbon. So, I used an ausome chipboard flower from Basic Grey, some BG pp, a few little buttons and twine, and some Offray rikrak. What is up with me and rikrak? I'm not sure, but I just love the look of it. Anyway, I gotta make this a quick post so I can move on to day #4. (I'm behind, but don't tell anyone!). TFL!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

365 cards, Day #2

So, yesterday was day #2 of 365 cards and the challenge was to use ONLY two
embellishments. So, on my card I chose some rikrak and a cute little butterfly.
When you can only use two embellies, it makes it hard to choose! Well, since
I'm a day behind, gotta run and make my card for day 3. Be back soon..... TFL!
